ABEL is excited to announce a series of professional and leadership learning sessions for educators and leaders interested in adjusting their practices to ensure staff and students are prepared to learn and work in our rapidly changing global world. Each event explores the various ways in which digital technologies are changing the way we work and learn, access and share information, interact, collaborate and communicate. The 2010 Summer Institute (ASI) at York University on August 23, 24 and 25 provides teachers, teacher-leaders and administrators with an opportunity to engage in professional learning that models and supports teaching and learning for the 21st century learner. This year’s theme, Creating the Future Now, focuses on new designs for classroom learning and leadership strategies that leverage the digital realm to engage students and improve student achievement.

On
February 19, 2010, ABEL held a one-day conference
called the ABEL Leadership Symposium: Mobilizing 21st Century Teaching
and Learning. At this conference, educational leaders began a dialogue
and participated in action planning to build capacity for, and
incorporate the effective use of technology for staff and student
learning.
A summary report of the conference was made and sent
to Leadership Symposium delegates. The report is now available online
for further review by ABEL members, non-members and partners.
